My Blog Assignment

So remember my first post, where I mentioned that this blog was part of an assignment for school? The assignment report is due tomorrow. I guess I've gotten over my writer's block... Sorry if some of my posts were a bit long! So I am reflecting on the process of the writing and the reception of this blog, and it would be REALLY helpful if some of you who have been reading could tell me what you've thought of the blog cummulatively. Have you enjoyed reading my blog, or have you just done it out of obligation, because I told you it was for an assignment? What would you have liked to see more of, or less of, for that matter? And possibly my most important question to you: do you feel as though you know me better as a result of having read my blog for the past six weeks? If so, why? If not, why not?

Finally, I just wanted to say thanks for reading. I know I'm not really that interesting, but I appreciate your participation for the sake of academic inquiry! I may continue to post, but perhaps with less frequency during essay-writing time...

Hi Karen,

I have to admit that I was reading the blog because you told us to. However, I really enjoyed it mainly because I've been nostalgic about last year and it's been great to know more about what's going on with you. I miss you! And I thought it was very authentic because your literary analysis in every post is completely you. Haha. Congratulations on your anniversary!
Keep posting!

Hey Agnes!

Thanks for your reply!

This really helps! I miss you too. We'll have to have an MA reunion. Maybe over Christmas Break?

Hey Karen!!

I honestly have NEVER read anyone's blog before. I'm not really into the whole blogging thing, BUT I have enjoyed the process. I admit the only reason that I was reading it was to help you with your assignment, but it's been great keeping up with your posts to hear what's going on with your life, and how the PhD's going! I think you did a great job! (Will this last comment help your grade?)

So congrats on everything! Miss you lots!

And enough of this "I'm not interesting" business, you're fabulous!

Hey Karen,
I liked the blog because I felt I was keeping in touch with what was going on in your life and, like Agnes, I have been missing everyone! I read it because you told me to, but I will probably check back in every now and then to see what you're up to.
Blogs are kind of like on-line diaries, which is cool to read.
Hope this helps a bit!

I am a fan of blogs in general, so I was happy to add it to my list of things to do on the internet.

While reading your blog does not make me feel any closer to you as a person/friend, it does make me feel more connected to what is going on in your life. It is a sort of impersonal trade-off. I know what is keeping you busy and what is stressing you out (or making you happy!) but I do not get the gratification of the face-to-face contact that is necessary for friendships.

Nevertheless, I have enjoyed reading your blog - makes me glad I decided to wait to do my PhD :)

I've enjoyed it... like the other class blogs I've seen, it made an interesting comparison with my own. (In case you're wondering how it stacks up, your blog doesn't have as many chainsaw wielding robots fighting zombie hordes. I wish I was making that up.)
I think I'm kind of in a unique position, as I didn't really know you prior to the blog, so I do think I know you better. On the other hand, I'm not sure I learned anything that wouldn't have eventually come across in face-to-face communication.
Total digression: my word verification was "subilk." That's practically a real word! Where's the fun in that?

Hey Karen,
Mainly I was reading it because you asked us to, and I'm always willing to help a fellow students get marks. Often I clicked onto it as a procrastination exercise, but I have to say that I enjoyed reading it. I only met you this year, and I feel like I know you better now. It's a bit weird because it's very one-sided and I feel a little like a voyeur as a result.

Are you going to keep it up, or are you taking it down as soon as the assignment is over?

Good luck tomorrow!

What I like is that you avoided mundane details about the trivia of your life. All of your posts were, without fail, stories of some sort.

By the way, Obama just won the presidency... you should write about that in your blog.

Hi Karen,

I mainly read your blog to support your project. However it was nice to read it and know that my experience in my PhD program is pretty close. We are all going though pretty much the same struggles, esp. with the SSHRC and OGS. It has been a fun read!

Best Wishes,
Katie

Hi Karen,
I admit that I got into your blog late, so I had some back-reading to do. I was impressed by the clarity and succinctness of your writing, it's conversational style, and how it conveyed clearly WHO you are. I especially liked the Niagara posting. In addition your pictorial accounts really brought your postings to life...though it's a pity we did not get to see you in your Halloween costume...thanks Alice!
